Now opening in US towns · Local pickup only

Your celebration decor shouldn’t sit in the garage. Rent it to a neighbor.

DecorShare is a neighborhood marketplace for Indian celebration decor in the USA. Families list the backdrops, flower garlands, stands and brass lamps they already own — and families nearby rent them for a housewarming, wedding, half-saree ceremony or birthday, for a fraction of decorator prices.

This is the kind of decor DecorShare is for — bought for one celebration, used for a day, then stored. The next family in town shouldn’t have to buy it all over again.

Founding owners are joining now

DecorShare has just opened and owners in the first towns are preparing their listings. There are no live listings to show yet — if you have decor stored at home from your last celebration, yours could be the first one your neighbors see.

First towns we’re opening: · · · · · — but any US town can list.

What gets listed

The decor Indian families in the US buy once, use for a day, and store for years. If it’s sitting in your garage or a storage bin, it belongs here.

How renting works

No shipping, no warehouses, no couriers. DecorShare rentals happen between two families in the same town, with a simple handover at both ends.

1

Find it in your town

Search by town or ZIP and category. Listings show the town, the item, its size, what’s included, and the owner’s price per day or per weekend.

2

Agree dates & windows

Message the owner with your event date. Together you fix a pickup window before the event and a drop-off window after it — times that suit both homes.

3

Pick it up locally

Collect from the owner’s home, or from a secure meet point the owner chooses — a community center, temple parking area or another public spot. The exact address is shared only after your booking is confirmed. Take a quick photo of the items as you receive them.

4

Drop it back

Return everything in the drop-off window, packed the way you received it. One more photo at handover, and both sides know the decor came back complete.

Your address stays private

A public listing shows only the owner’s town and ZIP area — never a house number or street. Owners share their exact pickup address privately, only with a renter whose booking is confirmed.

Prefer not to have anyone come to your home at all? Choose a secure meet point on your listing instead.

Pickup & drop-off windows

  • Owners set the windows — for example, pickup Friday 4–7 pm, drop-off Sunday 10 am–1 pm.
  • Renters arrange their own transport — backdrops are bulky, so check the listed size against your car before booking.
  • A photo at each handover protects both sides if anything is later in dispute.

Own decor from your last celebration?

You already paid full price for it once. A backdrop set that cost $300 and earns $75 a weekend pays for itself in four rentals — and in between, it helps another family in your town celebrate without buying everything new.

You set the price, the pickup type and the windows. Your address is never shown publicly.

List your decor

Tell us what you have, add photos of the actual item, and say where it lives. Fill this in and you’ll see exactly how your listing will look to renters — photos included, town and ZIP area only, never your address.

Privacy, built in: your public listing shows only your town and ZIP area. Your exact home address is never published — you share it privately only with a renter whose booking you’ve confirmed, or you meet at a secure point instead.

Questions, answered straight

Is there shipping? +

No — and that’s deliberate. Backdrops and stands are bulky, and shipping would cost more than the rental. Every DecorShare rental is local: the renter picks the decor up in the owner’s town and drops it back there.

Will strangers see my home address? +

No. Listings show only a town and ZIP area. You share your exact address privately, only after you’ve confirmed a booking — or you skip home pickup entirely and choose a secure meet point, like a community center or temple parking area.

How do payments work? +

DecorShare doesn’t take payments, deposits or bookings through the site yet — this is the founding version. For now, the owner and renter agree the price and settle directly with each other at pickup. Online payment is a later step, once the first towns have real rentals happening.

What if something comes back damaged? +

Both sides take a photo of the items at pickup and again at drop-off, so the condition is on record at both ends. Owners describe exactly what’s included, and renters return everything packed as received. As rentals grow, a deposit system is planned — it isn’t part of this founding version.

Which towns can list? +

Any town in the USA. We’re opening first where Indian communities are concentrated — the Lehigh Valley, Edison and the NJ–NYC corridor, Houston, Dallas, Chicago and the Bay Area — because a town needs a handful of listings before renters find it useful. A listing from any other US town is just as welcome.

What photos should I add? +

Add up to 6 photos of the actual item you own — not a shop or catalogue picture. Start with the full setup as a renter would use it (that becomes your cover photo), then a close-up showing colours and condition, and one of how it packs away, so renters can judge size and transport. You can remove a photo or change the cover photo before you preview your listing.

What does it cost to list? +

Listing is free for founding owners, and DecorShare takes no commission during the founding phase. Owners keep the full rental price they set.
